At a meeting of the Waltham Forest Council, councillors approved an updated Local Development Scheme and declared a Nature Emergency in the borough. The council also paid tribute to former Councillor Mohammad Asghar, father of Councillor Naheed Asghar, Portfolio Lead Member - Inclusive Economy, who had recently passed away.

Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 26th March, 2025 7.00 pm

The Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee met to discuss community safety, neighbourhood policing, and review the committee's activities. The meeting included a review of corporate performance regarding community safety, an update on neighbourhood policing in Waltham Forest, and a review of the committee's work, forward plan, and action tracker. The meeting was scheduled to be the final one for the municipal year.

Special Meeting: Annual Budget and Council Tax Setting, Council - Thursday, 27th February, 2025 7.30 pm

This meeting is scheduled to cover a wide range of financial matters, including the Council's budget for 2025-26, the rates at which it will charge fees for its services, its plans to invest in new buildings and infrastructure and the pay of its employees. The meeting is also scheduled to include the appointment of Paul Calaminus to the Health and Wellbeing Board.

Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 5th February, 2025 7.00 pm

The Communities and Public Protection Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to consider two reports, one on the impact of the Council's work to address Violence Against Women and Girls, and a second on the progress of the local Combating Drugs Partnership. In addition, the Committee was scheduled to review its work programme and the responses to recommendations and actions arising from the previous meeting.

Audit and Governance Committee - Wednesday, 29th January, 2025 7.00 pm

This meeting was scheduled to consider the external auditor's reports on the Council's and Pension Fund accounts for 2021-22 and 2022-23, and to note the external auditor's draft report on the 2023-24 accounts. Also for discussion was the Council's Treasury Management Strategy, Minimum Revenue Provision Policy Statement and Annual Investment Strategy for 2025-26, an update on the Corporate Anti-Fraud Team's work, an update on the delivery of the 2024-25 Internal Audit plan and a verbal update on The Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
