Proposed Signalisation of Existing Junction Tamworth Road (B4098) / Atherstone Road (B4116), Furnace End

The Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning approved the introduction of traffic signals with pedestrian facilities at the Tamworth Road (B4098) / Atherstone Road (B4116) junction in Furnace End on 09/05/2024. This decision was made to reduce a long-standing pattern of high annual collision rates at this location. The approved scheme includes the installation of traffic signals, pedestrian crossing facilities on Atherstone Road, Nuneaton Road, and Coleshill Road, and waiting restrictions for all arms of the junction.

Extension of 50mph Speed Limit at Ettington Crossroads, Fosse Way Scheme

The Cabinet approved a two-year programme of revenue-funded measures for the Warwickshire Bus Service Improvement Plan at a cost of £5.466 million, funded by Department for Transport grants. This decision was made on 9 May 2024. The programme includes adding these measures to the Warwickshire Enhanced Partnership Scheme.

The Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning approved the extension of a 50mph speed limit at Ettington Crossroads on the Fosse Way. This decision was made on 24 April 2026. The scheme includes engineering upgrades, behavioural nudges, messaging, and community engagement to address speeding.

The County Council of Warwickshire Council approved recommendations on 17/03/2026. The council resolved to engage with public organisations to support local farmers and game dealers, support sustainable shooting on council land, and ask officers to explore how shooting and conservation can help achieve environmental targets and improve opportunities for young people. Officers will also provide information on deer in road traffic collisions and consider a deer management plan. The council will write to local MPs requesting support for British farmers and sustainable shooting.
