The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to consider the annual report of the Staffordshire SACRE and review the council's Community Safety Strategy. The committee was also due to discuss the work programme for the upcoming year.

The Staffordshire County Council met on 11 December 2025, and the meeting was dominated by discussion of recent scandals involving council members, and the implications for the council's reputation and ability to deliver services. Councillors also debated a motion on renewable energy, agreeing to support renewable energy production on spaces with limited agricultural value, and to investigate renewable energy production on council-owned sites. The council also approved changes to its constitution and the appointment of chairmen and vice chairmen of committees.

Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Thursday 4th December 2025 2:00pm

The Safeguarding and Education Overview and Scrutiny Committee met to discuss the Staffordshire Domestic Abuse Strategy, the Children and Families Strategic Improvement Plan, and the Care Leavers Strategy and Local Offer. The committee agreed to support the new Staffordshire Domestic Abuse Strategy, which will be presented to the cabinet for approval in January 2026. The committee also discussed improvements to children's services and the support offered to care leavers in Staffordshire.
