Wharfside Strategic Masterplan

It was recommended that the Executive approve the consultation draft Trafford Wharfside Strategic Masterplan for the following reasons: · To take advantage of the significant and transformative opportunity to bring forward the largest sports-led regeneration scheme in the UK since London 2012, delivering over £7bn of investment, 15,000 homes and 48,000 local jobs, in a new mixed use neighbourhood anchored by a new 100,000 seater stadium for Manchester United. · To provide a strategic framework for planning decision making in the Trafford Wharfside area which reflects, underpins and evidences a substantial emerging Local Plan allocation, to enable investment decisions by the public and private sectors in development and infrastructure. · To provide key placemaking, public realm and urban design principles for the area in an easily accessible and understandable format, to deliver a sustainable community with access to physical, social and environmental infrastructure and to set a framework and parameters for development and the determination of planning applications. · To provide a firm basis for partnership working with the OTR MDC, Manchester United Football Club, GMCA, Transport for Greater Manchester and other public and private sector organisations.
