Knowsley has a single party Cabinet made up of
the Leader plus 6 Cabinet Members. The Cabinet is responsible for
taking decisions on the Executive functions of the Council. These
functions include proposing the policy framework and budget to the
full Council and implementing the Authority's policy framework.
Cabinet meets approximately every 6-8 weeks.
Each Cabinet Member has a portfolio area of responsibility. The
Cabinet Portfolios are as follows:
Leader
Children's Services
Communities and Neighbourhoods
Health
Adult Social Care
Regeneration and Economic Development
Resources
There is also an extensive scheme of
delegation to officers. It must be noted that, with the exception
of the Leader, individual Executive Members alone do not have the
power to take executive decisions; delegation remains with an
officer in consultation with the relevant Executive Member (as
appropriate) in accordance with their respective remits.
(Please note that members of the public are welcome to attend
Cabinet meetings although they may be asked to leave for certain
confidential items. Limited space will be available and
members of the public or press wishing to attend in person are
strongly advised to register in advance by
