The Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) in Lewisham advises the Local Authority on religious education and school worship. It reviews applications to vary the requirement for collective worship of a Christian character and can request the review of the Agreed Syllabus.
The SACRE also monitors the provision of religious education and collective worship, and may be involved in complaints procedures. It produces an annual report detailing its work, advice given, and the Local Authority's responses. The SACRE's advice informs the educational practices within Lewisham's schools.
