About

The Strategic Development Committee is responsible for deciding major planning applications submitted to the Council. Operating in a quasi-judicial manner, it must impartially apply legal rules and the Local Plan. While most applications are handled by officers, objectors and applicants can request to speak at meetings. Those wishing to speak must provide advance written notice and are typically allowed five minutes to present their case. Members of the public are advised not to lobby committee members, as this could affect their ability to participate in decisions.
