The Education and Local Economy Scrutiny Commission met to discuss the Southwark Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) annual report, the Connect to Work programme, and to interview Councillor Jasmine Ali, Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Refugees. The commission also reviewed its work programme for the upcoming year.

Southwark Council Assembly met to discuss resident's rights, ethical investments, and local funding, among other items. The council approved changes to its committee structure and investment strategy, and reappointed an independent advisor. Motions were passed regarding fairer funding, ethical investments, improvements to Peckham Rye Station, and Thames Water.

The Education and Local Economy Scrutiny Commission met on 6 October 2025 to discuss the management of the council's commercial property portfolio, youth services, and the commission's work programme for the coming year. The meeting also included a review of the cabinet's response to previous scrutiny reviews and recommendations.
