The proposal was considered to be on previously developed land within the settlement boundary of Westwood village and was assessed against policies concerning the Green Belt, National Landscape, and economic development.

243B Melksham Road, Holt

The committee was also scheduled to consider proposed roof alterations and extensions at 243B Melksham Road, Holt, Trowbridge, BA14 6QW. The application sought permission for roof alterations to create habitable space within the roof, along with a wraparound single-storey extension. The recommendation was to approve this application with conditions. The property is a detached bungalow on a large plot, and the proposal was called in by Councillor Trevor Carbin due to concerns about its relationship with adjoining properties. A neighbour at No. 13 Little Parks raised objections concerning the layout and position of the extension, its impact on privacy and daylight, the lack of clear boundary fencing, and construction access and safety. The report detailed the proposed design, including new windows and the potential installation of solar panels, and addressed concerns about overshadowing, noise, and the impact on trees. A Construction Management Plan was submitted to address concerns about construction traffic and working hours. The application was assessed against policies relating to design, neighbouring amenity, and highway impacts.
