The Council of Richmond upon Thames Council met on Tuesday 1 December 2009 and approved the adoption of a new Leader and Cabinet executive model for the borough. This change will be implemented after the 2010 elections.
Adoption of a New Executive Model
The council approved the adoption of a new Leader and Cabinet executive model, as outlined in the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 20071. This significant change to the council's governance structure will take effect following the 2010 elections. The Chief Executive has been authorised to publish the necessary notices to reflect these new executive arrangements and to make any consequential amendments to the council's Constitution to ensure a smooth transition.
