The Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee formally agreed previous recommendations and noted updates on funding awarded to Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations. The meeting, held on Wednesday, 17 January 2024, confirmed the minutes from a previous meeting and discussed funding allocations.
VCS Funding Awarded Under Delegated Authority
The committee noted an update on funding awarded to Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations under delegated authority since the last meeting. This included emergency funding totalling £29,000 to three organisations facing emergency situations due to the loss of council funding. These organisations were Citizens Business, Emic Close Senior Citizens Club, and Bike Works. Additionally, a community benefit rent reduction was awarded to Pollyanna Training Theatre, a drama organisation based in Wapping. This scheme acknowledges the value of work carried out by VCS organisations by providing a reduction in rent. The report detailing these awards was presented by Mark Waterman, Head of Corporate Strategy & Policy. The decision to note this update aligns with the council's agreed policy to support VCS activities in the borough, as outlined in the VCS Strategy 2020-20241.
Previous Recommendations
The Sub-Committee formally agreed the recommendations of the Grants Determination (Cabinet) Sub-Committee from their meeting on 8 November 2023. These recommendations were set out in Agenda Item 3 of the meeting.
