Open Council Network is an independent organisation. We report on Oxfordshire and are not the council. About us
The Shareholder Committee (Cabinet Committee) of Oxfordshire Council is scheduled to convene on Tuesday 16 June 2026. The primary item on the agenda is the appointment of a new Chair for the Enterprise Oxfordshire Board. The meeting will also include the approval of minutes from the previous meeting and an opportunity for questions from County Councillors and public address.
Appointment of Enterprise Oxfordshire Chair
A key focus of the meeting will be the formal appointment of the Chair for the Enterprise Oxfordshire Board. This follows a review process after an initial recruitment drive did not yield a suitable candidate. The report indicates that a revised approach involved interviewing a small number of candidates from the former Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) Board, with a view to an initial one-year fixed term.
The report outlines that Alexander Reip has been identified as the recommended candidate. His background includes co-founding Oxford nanoSystems, developing the nanoFLUX® surface coating technology, and holding various strategic and governance roles. He is currently the Chief Strategic Technology Advisor at UCR Group, a Trustee at the Royal Society of Chemistry, and a Non-Executive Director at the Net Zero Technology Centre. In Oxfordshire, he also chairs the Oxfordshire Economic Partnership Board and is Chair of Governors at North Kidlington Primary School. The Enterprise Oxfordshire Board has agreed to recommend his appointment to the Shareholder Committee.
The report notes that there are no financial, legal, or staffing implications associated with this appointment, as Alexander Reip is not an employee of the Council. Enterprise Oxfordshire is committed to considering equalities in its board and senior management appointments.
Other Business
The committee is also scheduled to review and approve the minutes from its previous meeting held on 19 May 2026. There will be a dedicated slot for questions from County Councillors, where any unanswered questions from the previous meeting will receive a written response. Additionally, members of the public will have the opportunity to present petitions or speak on agenda items.
The meeting will also address declarations of interest from councillors, a standard procedure to ensure transparency and manage potential conflicts of interest.
