Industry Report and Around Table Round Up

This segment of the meeting was scheduled to include an industry report and a round table discussion. Councillor Mark Findlater had raised concerns regarding the crisis affecting the pig farming sector in North East Scotland, with some producers facing significant financial difficulties. It was proposed that the Group write to the Cabinet Secretary to highlight the seriousness of the situation and explore potential financial support. Members were to discuss the challenges and consider appropriate actions, with a suggestion that further engagement with industry representatives, including the NFU Scotland Pigs Committee, would be beneficial.
