The County Council of Hertfordshire held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, 25 June 2024. The council appointed Angie Ridgwell as the new Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service, effective from September 2024. The council also paid tribute to former County Councillor and Leader of the Council, David Beatty, who passed away recently.

Appointment of Chief Executive/Head of Paid Service

The council unanimously agreed to appoint Angie Ridgwell to the post of Chief Executive and designate her as Head of Paid Service of the County Council. The decision followed recommendations from the Employment Committee, which met on 5 June 2024. The motion was moved by Councillor R M Roberts and seconded by Councillor F Thomson. The council also delegated the authority to agree on the starting date to the Director of Human Resources in consultation with the Chairman of the Employment Committee. Tribute to David Beatty

The Chairman announced with great sadness the passing of former County Councillor and Leader of the Council, David Beatty, at the age of 91. The council stood for a few moments in memory of David Beatty. Formal tributes will be invited at the July Council meeting when a full complement of members is expected to be present, and when David Beatty's family might be able to attend.
