The General Purposes Committee met to discuss the external audit of the council's accounts for the 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22 financial years. The committee were also scheduled to be updated on the external audit of accounts for the 2022/23 financial year, and to note the dates of future meetings.

External Audit of Accounts 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22

The main purpose of this meeting was for the committee to review the external audit of accounts for 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22.

The meeting was scheduled to receive reports from the council's auditors BDO on the completion of the audits for these years. The meeting was also scheduled to consider the final accounts for these years.

The report pack contains the final accounts for each year and the auditor's reports on them. The auditor's reports explain the audit process and the auditors' opinion on the accounts.

This was an update for members on the progress of the external audit of accounts for 2023/24.
