Summary
The West Suffolk Council Cabinet is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, to discuss several key issues. These include the adoption of the Suffolk Local Nature Recovery Strategy, a new Household Waste and Recycling Collections Policy, and a report from the Overview and Scrutiny Committee. They will also be considering the latest version of the Cabinet's Decisions Plan.
Suffolk Local Nature Recovery Strategy
The Cabinet will be considering the adoption of the Suffolk Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS). Councillor Gerald Kelly, Cabinet Member for Governance and Regulatory, and lead officers Marie Smith and George Whalley are responsible for this item.
The Suffolk LNRS is a county-wide strategy developed in response to the government's Environment Act 20211. The Environment Act 2021 requires all local authorities to produce a Local Nature Recovery Strategy. The aim of the strategy is to protect and improve the environment.
The Cabinet will also be considering the Suffolk LNRS Public Consultation Report and a response letter from West Suffolk Council.

The Cabinet is scheduled to discuss a new Household Waste and Recycling Collections Policy. Councillor David Taylor, Cabinet Member for Operations, along with lead officers Mark Walsh and Mark Christie, are responsible for this report.

Decisions Plan
The Cabinet will be reviewing the Decisions Plan covering the period from 1 October 2025 to 31 May 2026. Councillor Cliff Waterman, Leader of the Council, and lead officer Ian Gallin are responsible for this item.

The Cabinet will consider whether to exclude the press and public from the meeting during the discussion of the item relating to Strategic Land Acquisition and Development. This is because the report contains exempt information as defined in the Local Government Act 19722.
