The annual meeting of West Suffolk Council saw the election of Councillor Peter Armitage as Chair and Councillor Jools Savage as Vice Chair for the civic year 2026-2027. West Suffolk Local Plan Timetable, Notice to Commence and Scoping Consultation

The Cabinet of West Suffolk recommended to Council on 14 April 2026 that formal notice be given to commence preparation of a New West Suffolk Local Plan in June 2026. They also recommended approval of a timetable for preparation of the plan for publication in June 2026. Delegated authority was given to the Head of Planning, in consultation with the Portfolio Holder for Planning, to agree and publish the local plan timetable and to finalise and agree a Local Plan Scoping Consultation for publication in June 2026.
