West Sub-Area Planning Committee - Monday, 12th October, 2026 10.00 am

The West Sub-Area Planning Committee of Cornwall Council met on Monday 12 October 2026 to consider four planning applications. The committee refused an application for outline planning permission for up to 40 dwellings in Mabe Burnthouse due to concerns over pedestrian safety and the lack of a continuous footway to facilities within the settlement. They resolved to grant delegated powers to approve the temporary siting of a residential caravan for a business owner in Praze An Beeble for 3 years, subject to the applicant agreeing to amend the description and conditions to reflect a 3-year temporary permission and the caravan being removed by that date. The committee granted delegated authority to approve the construction of an above-ground slurry storage tank at Tresowes Farm, subject to appropriate conditions. Finally, they refused an application for permission in principle for two self-build affordable dwellings in Nancekuke, citing the proposal as a sporadic and unsustainable form of development within the open countryside and in conflict with the Portreath Neighbourhood Development Plan and the Cornwall Local Plan.

Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee - Wednesday, 30th September, 2026 10.00 am

The Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to consider a range of important issues, including an update on maternity services at North Devon District Hospital, the performance of the South West Ambulance Service Foundation Trust, and the Director of Public Health's annual report on mental health and wellbeing. The committee was also scheduled to receive updates on the Integrated Care Board cluster and the South West Peninsula Board's performance.
