The Cabinet of Derbyshire Council decided on 15 October 2026 to approve the voluntary strike-off and dissolution of MEGZ Limited. The decision authorises the Executive Director for Place and the Head of Markham Vale to complete necessary preparatory actions, and requests the directors of MEGZ Limited to submit the application for voluntary strike-off.

The Cabinet approved amendments to the proposal to work with East Midlands Chamber to deliver business support. The decision date was 15/10/2026. The contract end date was extended to 30 June 2028 and the contract value was reduced to £0.481m.

The Cabinet decided to approve the preparation of a new Waste Local Plan for Derbyshire and Derby, jointly with Derby City Council, for submission to the Secretary of State. The decision was made on 15/10/2026. Authority was delegated to the Executive Director for Place to proceed with preparation up to the Gateway 1 Assessment, including scoping consultation and evidence gathering.

The Cabinet Member for SEND and Education confirmed nominations for local authority school governors on 11 September 2026. The Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety approved a grant of up to £0.346m to Marches Energy Advice on 23 September 2026. This grant will fund energy relief crisis payments and pre-payment vouchers for vulnerable residents.

The Cabinet of Derbyshire Council decided on 15/10/2026 to approve the procurement of six highway maintenance workstreams with a maximum contract value of £40.0m. Authority was delegated to the Executive Director – Place to award contracts and progress delivery.

The Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety decided on 23/09/2026 to approve the award of grant funding of up to £0.346m from the Crisis and Resilience Fund to Marches Energy Advice. This funding is for administering energy relief crisis payments and pre-payment vouchers for vulnerable Derbyshire residents.
