The Children and Young People Select Committee noted declarations of interest on 30/06/2026. Councillor Calcutt Cheadle declared a non-pecuniary interest regarding SEND reforms due to his children having EHCPs. Councillor Aiello declared a non-pecuniary interest as she is employed by a higher education establishment outside the borough and is a member of the University and College Union.

The Children and Young People Select Committee noted the report on Tackling Race Inequality in Schools and accepted officers' recommendations. The committee also noted the report on Data Monitoring and accepted officers' recommendations. Finally, the committee noted the End of administration work programme report and put forward work programme suggestions for the new administration.

The Children and Young People Select Committee noted the report on national SEND reform proposals and local planning. They were informed that SEND reform implementation is an evolving process mapped over three years. The committee also noted that significant co-production with stakeholders has occurred and will continue to shape the 'Lewisham Experts at Hand' model.

The Children and Young People Select Committee resolved to approve the Committee Work Programme on 30/06/2026, subject to amendments. The Committee encouraged councillors to visit schools within their wards and feedback findings.

Planning Committee A decided to authorise the Head of Planning to grant planning permission for alterations to the front and flank elevations, installation of rooflights, and associated works at 96-100 Lee High Road. The decision was made on 23 June 2026. The committee agreed to a condition requiring a watching brief for any unexpected contamination discovered during development.
