26/043 - New workspace platform: Microsoft 365

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 25 June 2026 - 7.00 pm - June 25, 2026

Cabinet considered a report seeking approval to migrate the council's cloud-based productivity, collaboration, and telephony infrastructure from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. The current contract with Google is due to expire in December 2027 and cannot be extended due to procurement framework changes. Additionally, the council must prepare for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) which will culminate in the establishment of a new unitary authority on 1 April 2028. Standardising on Microsoft 365 will align Thanet District Council with all other Kent authorities (which are already Microsoft-based), ensuring that staff are equipped with relevant skills ahead of Vesting Day, preventing integration issues, and mitigating several imminent licensing cost pressures.

Recommendations Approved

026/46 - Delivering the Crisis and Resilience Fund

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 25 June 2026 - 7.00 pm - June 25, 2026

The purpose of this report is to establish a comprehensive delivery plan for the national Crisis and Resilience Fund monies distributed to Thanet District Council (CRF).

Recommendations Approved

26/044 - Anti-social Behaviour and Alcohol PSPO

From: Cabinet - Thursday, 25 June 2026 - 7.00 pm - June 25, 2026

There is an ongoing issue of persistent anti-social behaviour (ASB), rowdy conduct, public intoxication, and public urination/defecation in the Margate, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate areas. These behaviours negatively impact local businesses, diminish the visitor experience, and pose public health risks. Following the expiration of previous orders and a subsequent pause due to legal challenges, multi-agency partners have reported increased difficulty in managing alcohol-related disorder. A statutory four-week public consultation was carried out between 1 May 2026 and 1 June 2026, receiving overwhelming community and partner support for the reintroduction of a targeted legal toolbox to address these issues.

Recommendations Approved

25/015 - Air Quality Strategy (AQS) for Thanet

From: Cabinet - Tuesday, 2 June 2026 - 7.00 pm - June 02, 2026

This report sought Cabinet approval for the adoption of the Thanet District Council Air Quality Strategy (2026–2031) for launch on Clean Air Day, 18 June 2026. The Strategy establishes a co-ordinated framework to maintain, protect, and improve air quality across the district. Although Thanet is in full compliance with national air quality objectives and revoked its final Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) in 2024, the strategy outlines proactive, preventative measures to safeguard public health and align clean air initiatives with climate change, planning, transport, and sustainable growth policies.
