After a tied vote between Councillor Mike Brown and Councillor Ronan Browne, the Mayor, Councillor Siggy Atherton, used her casting vote to elect Councillor Ronan Browne as the new leader.

Biodiversity Action Plan

The Melton Cabinet approved the Biodiversity Duty Plan on 11 March 2026. The Cabinet recommended that the Council amends the Terms of Reference of the Member Climate Change Working Group to incorporate the annual monitoring of biodiversity action. The plan sets out policies, objectives, and actions for the Council to fulfil its biodiversity duty.

Asset Disposal

Melton's Cabinet approved the disposal of the asset known as The Cove and preparation of the site for sale via auction on 11 March 2026. The Cabinet noted that conversion for residential purposes was no longer recommended due to parking and value for money constraints. Authority was delegated to the Director for Place and Prosperity to conclude consideration of a community use option as an alternative to sale.
