Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 11th December, 2025 7.30 pm

The Corporate Resources and Economy Scrutiny Committee is scheduled to meet to discuss the Inclusive Economy and Jobs Annual Report 2024-25, and to receive an update on the Cost of Living Crisis Scrutiny Review. The committee will also review its forward plan and work programme.

Planning Committee - Tuesday, 9th December, 2025 7.30 pm

The Islington Planning Committee met to discuss a hybrid planning application for the New Barnsbury Estate, involving detailed plans for some buildings and outline proposals for others, and ultimately resolved to defer the application. The proposal includes up to 1,116 homes, a nursery, a community centre, commercial space, and extensive landscaping, with a commitment to replace existing social rent homes and add 135 new ones. Concerns were raised about the height and massing of the buildings, the impact on heritage, and the quality of accommodation, but the potential benefits of increased housing and improved amenities were also acknowledged.

Freedom of the Borough, Council - Thursday, 4th December, 2025 7.00 pm

In a special meeting, Islington Council awarded David John Dade the Freedom of the Borough in recognition of his extensive voluntary work with the Islington Poppy Appeal. Councillors praised Dade's dedication to veterans and the community, highlighting his fundraising efforts and support for those in need. The motion was moved by Councillor Una O'Halloran, Leader of the Council, seconded by Councillor Santiago Bell-Bradford (Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Inclusive Economy, Culture & Jobs), and passed unanimously.

Council - Thursday, 4th December, 2025 7.30 pm

The Islington Council meeting of 4 December 2025 included discussion of the council tax support scheme, a review of the constitution, and a new gambling policy. Councillors were also scheduled to discuss support for children, local government funding, and renter's rights. In addition to these items, the council was expected to discuss questions raised by members of the public and the youth council.

Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee - Tuesday, 25th November, 2025 7.30 pm

The Environment, Climate and Transport Scrutiny Committee was scheduled to discuss the Active Travel Programme, presentations from dockless bike companies, and household recycling rates, as well as review the committee's work plan for the coming year. Representatives from Islington Fixers, Archway Upcycle, and ReLondon were expected to provide witness evidence regarding reuse and repair. The meeting was scheduled to take place at the Town Hall on Upper Street.
