Support Safe Streets in Lewisham

Proposed by Councillor Ese Erheriene and seconded by Councillor Oana Olaru-Holmes, this motion focuses on ensuring safe streets in Lewisham. It acknowledges the previous administration's introduction of Integrated Enforcement, an intelligence-led strategy to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) and community safety issues. The motion notes that crime and ASB remain significant concerns for residents, impacting their quality of life and confidence in public spaces. It asserts that residents have the right to be safe and feel safe, and that visible enforcement, neighbourhood policing, and partnership working are essential. The Council is being asked to demonstrate its commitment to street safety by targeting ASB through funding community enforcement officers, continuing and enhancing regular patrols in hotspots, implementing the Integrated Enforcement Strategy, and working with local councillors, residents, the Metropolitan Police, and community organisations to develop targeted action plans to improve safety and confidence in areas where residents feel unsafe.
