The Council is the main decision-making body for Newham, comprising all sixty-six elected Councillors and the Mayor. It meets up to eight times a year to make major decisions, including setting the council tax and budget, and approving policy framework documents. The Council also holds an Annual Meeting in May to appoint committees and elect the Chair of Council. These meetings are open to the public.
